Vice- President
Braxton Kent grew up mostly in Mobile, Alabama where he trained in multiple styles of dance starting at age 11. His dance training began as a competitive dancer at Sheffield School of the Dance. Through his studio, he competed for multiple title positions, and fun fact, he was West Coast Dance Explosion’s Senior Elite Dancer 2nd Runner-up in 2019! Along with his competitive dance background, Braxton trained with Kinetics Dance Company throughout high school in which he gained concert dance and pedagogy experience during his time with the company. Braxton values his dance background because it has made him the versatile dancer he is today!
Currently, Braxton is a junior at UA, and he is majoring in Dance and Kinesiology on the Pre-Physical Therapy Track with a minor in Psychology. Along with his majors, he is involved in many Dance Department Productions such as a performer in Fall 2022 ADRT, Spring 2023 ARDT, and every Dance Alabama! Concert since the fall of his freshman year! He even had the privilege of showcasing his own choreographic work titled Our Deliverance in the Spring 2023 Dance Alabama! Concert! Additionally, Braxton is an ambassador for the Dance Department as well as a member of the Dance Honors Society of Alabama. Over the summer, Braxton worked with the Sheffield Company Dancers prepare for their nationals at West Coast Dance Explosion. Also, he taught numerous masterclasses all over the southeast region which included teaching at Daniel Thomas Company’s summer intensive alongside Dance Moms Star Gianna Martello! To top off his summer, Braxton choreographed multiple dances for the Daniel Thomas Company which included a few solos and group works that will compete across the nation this season! Braxton is beyond excited and honored to serve as your 2023-2024 Dance Alabama! Vice President! |
