Producing Director
Dominique Watson is a Senior from Madison, AL and is majoring in Dance with a Minor in Human Development and Family Studies. She started dancing at age 3 at Heidi Knight School of Dance, where she served roles such as captain and student teacher.
While in high school she also became a staff member for two different competitions. First, she was a part of Hollywood Dance Jamz’s Hollywood DJ program. Later, she began working at NRG Dance Project, first as a Regional NRG Prodigy, then in 2022 being awarded the title of NRG National Apprentice. Dominique’s freshman and sophomore years of college were spent at Southern Union, where she began her degree. There she was elected as Student President of the Dance Program - which was essentially their version of Dance Alabama! Her time at Southern Union also allowed her to receive various dance and academic awards as well as being in Academic Honor Societies such as Phi Theta Kappa, Mu Alpha Theta, and Sigma Kappa Delta. Since transferring to The University of Alabama last year, Dominique has gotten involved in a variety of activities. She has worked for the dance department and in the costume shop as Work Study. She is a part of the Dance Honor Society of Alabama. She also is a DEI Committee Member - which is a committee that focuses heavily on advocating for their peers in all ways. During her short time here, she has also received various academic and dance awards such as the Archie Wade Award and the Outstanding Junior Award - presented by the Theatre and Dance Program. Dominique is so excited to serve on the Dance Alabama! Board this year as the Producing Director, and she can’t wait to see all of the amazing things this organization will do! |
